Welcome to Willesborough Junior School Website
Headteacher Blog - December 2013
Welcome to the very first Head teacher’s blog. I will be using the blog to keep you informed of daily life here at Willesborough Junior School.
We have seen a very busy start to the new school year. Year 4 took part in Armistice Day in Ashford Town Centre, Year 6 have had their Enterprise Fair and Year 5 had a geography trip to Aylesford Stream. In addition to this we have taken part in several national events including National School Meals Week, Anti-Bullying week and the BRAKE road safety campaign in which we worked with GIST, a local haulage firm. We held a cake sale on Friday 15th November which was well supported by our school community. Thank you to the parents who donated cakes; the money raised went to Children in Need, our partner school in Nkuringo and also to buy extra resources to enhance our new Literacy & Language programme.
Since September we have welcomed our current and prospective parents into school on several occasions. The most recent occasion was our Open day on Wednesday 27th November. There were over 100 visitors who enjoyed biscuits from our school kitchen, a headteacher talk about our school and a tour of by our pupil ambassadors. The feedback from this was extremely positive. Thank you to those of you who came and keep your eyes out for some demonstration Literacy and Language and Big Maths lessons once our new hall is open.
There are many plans for the next term and I will use this space as a means of keeping you up to date with events. We very much look forward to welcoming you all into school and wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
