Geldof class did their assembly on their namesake, Bob Geldof, especially focusing on his charity work, and the creation of the Band Aid single with Midge Ure, which featured fantastic brave soloists! This inspired Geldof class to help their local community, and they told us about the food bank in Ashford. They even re-wrote the lyrics of the song and called it 'Ashford Aid'. Well done to Ms Hills and Geldof class for a very entertaining and informative assembly.
The children from Wonder class gave a very interesting assembly on the life and music of their namesake, Stevie Wonder, to their parents and the rest of the school. The assembly finished with a visit from 'Ant and Dec' who hosted a mini Bushtucker Trial which involved invited members of the audience (including Year 6 Leader Mrs Kelsey) putting their hands into gunge to select questions about Stevie Wonder to test whether they had been listening! Thank you to Mrs Semadeni and everyone from Wonder class for a very entertaining assembly.
The children from Presley class gave the first Year 6 assembly of the school year. They presented a very thought-provoking assembly on natural disasters such as the Nepal earthquake, and the Indian Ocean Tsunami to their parents, carers, and the rest of the school. Well done to them all for their hard work, and to Miss Potter for preparing them so well.
