Johnny B, Isabel J, Jack CS, Sajuni V, Matei S, Jack B, John S & Isaac W
A big thank you also goes to all my helpers who have given up part of their lunch time to help set up the boards and referee matches, I really do appreciate their assistance: Jenit, Jenita, Amber S, Nuyem, Rameen, Erin, Matei, Jack CS, Oliver J, Reuben R, Haliyah, Amy K & Johnny B
The children have risen to the challenge to help me break last year's total number of children entering the annual inter-house chess championship! One hundred and forty-six children signed up to participate this year. Thank you all.
The matches started on Monday 15th January and to date over 100 matches have taken place. We are about halfway there!
It is a knockout competition and the loser of the match is awarded a point for their house, a merit and a certificate in celebration assembly. We have nearly completed all the Round 1 matches. The winners continue to play (names randomly pulled out from a hat) until we are left with the top 5 chess players in the whole school who then play against each other to find the overall winner.
The competition will continue over the next couple of weeks. watch this space for updates!
